Tear Jerker / Morality Chain (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

• On the night Ursa kills Azulon and leaves, she looks for Zuko... and finds him in Azula's room, because Azula brought him there to keep him safe. Ursa asks Azula to protect Zuko after she's gone.
  "If I..." she swallowed, trying to steady her voice. "If I do that, would I make you proud?" For once, in my entire life, could I make you proud?
  A moment later, she felt arms wrapping around her back, one hand reaching up to caress the back of her head. "Oh, Azula," There was an odd catch in her voice. "I am already so very proud of you. No matter your faults, no matter how many things you’ve done that I disapprove of, and no matter how poorly I may have shown it, I love you. I will always love you. Remember that."
  Liar! LIAR! A part of Azula's mind screamed at her. She ignored it, her hands reaching up to grasp her mother as well, and for the first time in her life, Azula cried into her mother's shoulder.
• Azula witnessing Zuko's fateful Agni Kai with Ozai manages to horrify her from the moment she realizes that their father is going to be Zuko's opponent rather than the general he spoke out against, screaming his name once Ozai burns him. She's convinced that Ozai's banishing him afterwards is actually a punishment of her for spending so much free time with Zuko.
• Iroh declines to teach Azula lightning redirection because it would be a waste of time; there are only three people in the world with lightningbending. Since she doesn't have to worry about Iroh, her father, or herself hitting her with lightning, it would be unnecessary extra training. Azula scoffs; after all, couldn't the same be said of him? And then she realizes that he invented lightning redirection for the sole purpose of defending himself against his brother. The worst part is the slow dawning horror as she can't come up with a counterargument to this.
