Tear Jerker / Milo

Go To

  • Whenever two characters argue, for example...
    • In "The Prank", when Milo scares Judith with the fake spider, she takes it seriously and stands against the wall with a sulky look. Made sadder by the fact that she's still sulky even after he says that it's just a joke, in contrast to before, when she was laughing at pranks even when they were played on her.
    • In "The Argument", when George and Vanessa (Milo's parents) were arguing because George forgot to do a chore. Then, he declares "I'm leaving!" and drives off, not coming back until about five hours later. And while he's away, Milo fears that they're going to be divorcing.
    • In "The Big Fight" when Judith and Milo argue. And it's not like a normal argument because Judith doesn't even want to talk to him anymore. Not even when he asks her what the point of being angry is.
  • When Picpic the porcupine dies. Especially jarring as it starts off like a regular day with the only unusual thing being that he doesn't respond to his name...then they find him dead in the bushes.
  • When Milo is Playing Sick and is very bored. He's not even allowed to eat pizza! While it's kind of funny, it's also sort of sad this exchange.
Vanessa: "Why are you going to bed so early, Milo?"
Milo: "To make tomorrow come faster. Today is boring!"
  • The titular indigestion in "Milo's Indigestion". Especially how we don't see him get better and it starts like a nice day picking berries.
  • Milo's nightmare in "Milo and the Wounded Bird" in which he's shrunk and is living with a family of birds who want him to live with them. Thank goodness it was not real or he might have never seen his family again.
  • Milo missing Vanessa at bedtime during "Mom is Away".
Milo: "It's gonna be a long night."
  • The episode "Shame". It starts badly (Milo says he doesn't feel well, then wets his pants), then continues to be bad (he fears his friends will make fun of him and tears up Judith's drawing just because it references urination). Thankfully, it ends on a light note.
    • There's also the aforementioned tearing of Judith's drawing. She only drew the peeing dog as a joke but Milo then tore it up and he even snarked at her.
  • Seeing Judith sulking in her room at "Judith's House" because she doesn't like Mary.
  • In "All's Fair", when Judith is sad after losing at two games in a row and she sits on the bench, sulking. Thankfully, Vanessa and Milo make it better. This line is particularly sad.
Judith: (tearfully and with her hands over her eyes) "I'm no good, I can't do anything!"
  • In "Milo and the Lost Chick", when Milo and Mother Hen were worried about the missing chick. Especially the Mother Hen. Thankfully, Milo makes it better and the chick is found.
Milo's Grandma: "Well, she's worried. It's her baby."
  • "Milo Versus the Litterbugs" is a bit of a tearjerking episode, even though it had a Happy Ending. It focuses on how litter can remain in parks for years and broken glass can cut people. It also announces how carving on trees is harmful, which could come as a shock as even some older viewers may not have previously known that.
  • Elise believing the crab to be unhappy in "Seashells and Sea Creatures". Thankfully, Milo sets the crab free and the episode is otherwise free of sad moments.
  • In "Milo Goes to the Beach", when Milo is lost and starts sobbing, crying, and stating that the situation is "unfair" and he wants his parents. Extra tearjerking as it lasts longer than other times in the show when a character cries.
  • "Face to Face" had a bit of meanness in it that could be sad. First Vincent calls Milo a baby for having gotten paint on his face, then the teacher points out that Vincent has paint on his own face and everyone else laughs at Vincent, including the teacher. In the bathroom, Vincent calls Milo's self portrait ugly, leading Milo to sulk. When the class looks at Vincent's portrait, they all laugh at it (because he'd painted his hair, clothes and fur in red instead of his real colours). Thankfully, the teacher makes it better by delivering the episode's Aesop about respecting others' opinions.
  • In "The Sack Race", when Milo and Judith get mad at Vincent because he shoved Milo in the race. Judith's out-of-place-for-her-personality angry speech was enough to make Vincent stammer. Thankfully, he owns up.
  • In "Happy Heart", when Milo cries after being teased for his Puppy Love crush on Daphne. Luckily, George makes it better.
  • The little girl in "Sticking Together" mentioning that pandas are endangered.
  • In "The Lost Marble", when Judith is seen crying, especially those high-pitched noises she makes.
  • While "Teacher For a Day" was mostly comical, the moments focused on interrupting can be minorly sad for...
    • Anyone who's been interrupted.
    • Anyone who's felt guilty at being told not to interrupt.
    • Anyone who has attempted to help, but gotten a negative response.
