    Season 1
  • Before he's saved at the last minute by the Wraith, Arthur bleeding out on the boat in Episode 9.
Arthur: I'm scared. The- the Dark World...
John: I'll meet you there, friend.
    Season 2
  • The truth behind Faroe's death – she drowned in the bath alone as a young girl because Arthur was busy composing and forgot to check on her, leaving Arthur ravaged with guilt. And we get to hear it happen in real time, in a truly gut-wrenching dream sequence at the start of Episode 15.
  • In Episode 19, Arthur and John befriend an adorable cow-like creature that John names Lilly... only to find Lilly again an episode later horribly mangled by the King in Yellow, forcing John to Mercy Kill her.
  • The poem Arthur recites about the loss of his parents to John, having lost both his parents to suicide at a young age:
I don’t recall, how we met,
as I was far too young,
I knew you not as you are now,
‘Cause to me you were the sun,

An always present warmth and glow,
a light that’s always there,
to wipe the tears from out my eyes,
to brush my matted hair.

And I would lie, if not to say,
our relationship was pure,
I am young, a cause of grief,
Of this I am quite sure.

Despite all I’d be remiss,
to say there was no love,
A calmness, and a careful word,
a nudge and not a shove.

There were nights, that I recall
I needed you the most,
I’d crawl from bed and walk to you,
and you would hold me close,

Between the love of both of you,
to ail my sleeping strife,
I’d never felt so safe and yet so
cold in all my life.

I too recall a time when I was
trying to impress,
A goofy boy named Arthur dressed up,
In his mother’s best,

Was only dad who laughed with me,
as mother, you withdrew,
but when he joined in dressing up,
you cried with laughter too.

And there was the time, we all did find,
ourselves stuck in the rain,
and mother had her gown near soaked
and dad was much the same

And though we all were miserable
Mother found us a spot of dry
in which we ate a pretend meal
of jelly and sea pie.

And now you’re gone and I can’t explain
the loss the lingers here,
the size of a young boy’s parents, that
he wishes could be near.

And there are nights, where he needs you,
and he still crawls out of bed,
And walks towards your bedroom door,
before recalling that you’re dead.

And I want someone to tell that boy,
to swallow all the hate,
that nothing that he could’ve said,
would’ve changed his parents’ fate.

And I want that someone to be you,
as I write this, but alas,
This pain will linger with me still,
I pray this too shall pass.
  • John offering himself to the King in Yellow in Episode 20 in exchange for Arthur's safety – followed by Arthur sacrificing himself before John can get the chance, slitting his own throat to ensure that the King can't get to John. It doesn't work.
    Season 3
  • "Coda" opens with Arthur alone, (still) blind, and afraid, dragging himself through a snowstorm on two broken legs, interspersed with happy memories of Arthur raising Faroe.
  • Arthur brokenly begging Yellow to remember being John at the start of Episode 21, to no avail.
Arthur: Lilly. Tell me... how could you forget Lilly?
  • Arthur describing his friendship with his late partner Parker, revealing that Parker approached him when he was suffering a severe depression after the death of his daughter, drinking himself into a stupor every night.
Arthur: I was at the worst of it. Couldn’t keep my head on straight. Most nights I was pouring myself into bed and pickling my liver at Jack’s. Parker was so nosy, he… he just saw me. He wanted to... help, I - I think. You know. I guess I never realized that.
    • It then becomes worse as Arthur then bitterly berates John for killing Parker simply because he wanted to, causing yet another fracture in their relationship, with John knowing that no matter how much he apologizes, he can't ever right that wrong.
    Season 4
  • "The Nightmare" gives us more insight into Arthur's past and life, and at one point he refuses to play along with Scratch's games and tries to reminisce about a happy time in his life; when he would bring Faroe to the park every day during the summer. It goes from heartwarming to heart-wrenching when you remember what eventually happens to her.
  • After Arthur finally reconciles with his father-in-law, Daniel, they start to make strides toward a more friendly and familial relationship. Only for Butcher to show up and shoot Daniel, with Arthur forced to run and leave him to die. Thankfully, Daniel survives and is taken to the hospital, but with Butcher on his way to finish him off and Arthur restrained and unable to save Daniel, he might lose yet another person he cares about.
