Tear Jerker / Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland

Go To

  • Camille breaking down in tears after having just witnessed her father being whisked away by the nightmarish essence. It really drives home just how badly Nemo has messed up.
  • When Nemo and Icarus are drifting in the ocean on their bed (after being catapulted through the dream world back to their house which then flooded and swept them away), a bolt of lightning strikes the water, causing a brief geyser, knocking them both back. As they recover, the geyser briefly takes the form of King Morpheus before dissipating. It then hits Nemo just what the extent of his failure to keep his promise to the the king has done, and he can only break down in tears over his mistake as Icarus tries to comfort him.
  • When Nemo, Icarus and the Boomps are catapulted back to his bedroom a second time following the ambush in Nightmare Land, Nemo is very distraught. Not only did the rescue attempt for Morpheus fail miserably, but now Flip, Professor Genius, and most of all, Princess Camille, are now in the Nightmare King's clutches as well. Nemo takes Camille's capture the hardest, since he has grown very close to her and had promised to save her father, and now he's lost her too.
  • Nemo screaming at the Nightmare King's apparent torture of Camille (who is in a suspended-animated state) to force him to reveal himself. It's hard to watch him agonizing over whatever pain she might be experiencing, but it also slightly doubles as a Heartwarming moment as it shows how much he has grown to care for her, possibly to the point of love.
  • Everyone's reaction to Nemo's Heroic Sacrifice. As everyone wakes up in the aftermath of the death of the Nightmare King and the purification of his kingdom, Icarus is the first to look for Nemo, only to find that, just as he had feared, Nemo has seemingly died from his life force being drained by his use of the royal scepter. He tries to wake him to no avail, and then breaks down sobbing over the loss of his best friend, as do the Boomps when they come upon the scene. Camille, Flip, and Genius are then freed from their suspended-animated states and, upon seeing the others crying over Nemo, the former rushes over to him, begging him to wake up before starting to cry along with the others. Flip and Genius then see this and become saddened as well, with the former also likely becoming remorseful that him peer-pressuring Nemo to open the Forbidden Door has led up to this. Thankfully, Morpheus steps in and brings Nemo Back from the Dead with the scepter's power.
    • Doubles as Heartwarming, but Nemo's apology to Morpheus for breaking his promise and causing all the trouble to begin with. Morpheus forgives him, citing that his courage has allowed him to make up for his mistake by destroying the Nightmare King and purifying his kingdom of all darkness and evil, and for that, he has become a true prince.
  • The final goodbye between Nemo and Camille, with her thanking him for their time together. Especially the kiss, which officially symbolizes their love, and possibly indicates that they'll see each other again someday.
