** Even the other members of Blue Team can tell that he's clearly not ok emotionally, as shown during this exchange between Fred and Kelly before Chapter 2:

*** What's even more heartwrenching is Fred's second line. Chief's clearly not doing well at all, and to cope with the events of [[VideoGame/Halo4 Halo 4]], he's been going on mission after mission without rest just to keep himself busy.

[[VideoGameCaringPotetial If you play through the level correctly, and make sure the elevator doors don't shut them out, you will be rewarded with around 40 soldiers riding up the elevator with you and helping fight off Prometheans.]] Then the Guardian activates its first pulse, shutting the lift down and forcing it to come to an immediate stop, [[PlayerPunch killing every single soldier at once from the force of the drop.]] Even in a franchise where you see Redshirts gunned down all the time, it can be pretty jarring to see dozens of men and women drop dead at once.
