Tear Jerker / Future Robot Daltanious

  • The downfall of Earth is this as the planet has been reduced to ruins and packs of survivors trying to scavenge for resources to survive after it fell to the Alien Invasion by the Zaal Empire. It is in complete contrast with other Earths from Combattler V, Voltes V, and Daimos that remained standing thanks to their respective titular Super Robots defending them.
  • Kento Tate lost his mother and his sister to the Alien Invasion, and his father went missing before that.
    • It's even more somber that Himiyo Tate never knew the truth that her husband Hayato was an Alien Prince from another planet before she died when the Zaal Empire attacked.
    • Kento's sister dying is also this as had she lived, she would have been there for her brother and share the burden of being heir of an alien empire their father came from.
  • The state of the clones mass produced by the Helios Empire is this as they were constantly abused, treated as lesser beings and never had a choice but to follow the original of every aspect of their lives. All to ensure a Succession Crisis in the royal family never happens. Even if a clone, who takes over the ruler's place after the latter passed away to keep up appearances, did a good job in managing the empire, their usefulness comes to an end with an execution squad while others simply watch and do nothing. Even then, the clones are treated like trash in other planets as Kento found out when Kloppen's false accusation at him being a clone ends up losing allies and support from worlds as a result. Of course, Kloppen suffers this as well when his true nature as a clone came out and his own forces quickly their back on him. This horrifies Harlin enough to no longer bring back the Helios Empire and instead establish a new nation where everyone is equal, and an anti-clone discrimination law is passed as well.
  • Kloppen's childhood. He was denied the proper love and care most children receive from their parents, resulting in him being a timid and unquestioning boy. The only man who showed him proper paternal love wanted to groom him. From a young age, he was lied to and told he was the Prince of Helios, so that Dolmen could use him a puppet when the time was right. To keep up this lie, Dr. Namil forced him to wear a mask, forbidding him to take it off until he was sure the actual Prince had died (which was years later). Kloppen was taught to never question the Zaal or Dolmen, and this led to him developing a God-like view of the Emperor, eager to oblige his every command. Even though he loved Dolmen with all his heart, Dolmen loathed him in secret - because he was a clone.
  • The scene where Kloppen, as a child, is given the mask by Dr. Namil. Kloppen is anxious at first, but slowly, his small hands clutch it, if it's a safety measure. Kloppen wears the mask with pride, as it was bestowed on him by his father figure, but the mask was nothing but one of many tools to keep him from finding the truth about his true identity.
  • Kloppen never stopped seeking love from Dr. Namil even as he groomed him, following his teachings with great dedication and respect. Namil, however, was horrified with himself for manipulating Kloppen's innocence, and decided to redeem himself by committing suicide.
  • Kloppen's behaviour as a child, in general, reeks of Realism-Induced Horror. In Real Life, many children love their abusers, no matter what they do to them. Kloppen was forbidden from expressing himself, told he had to sacrifice himself for the Zaal's glory, and shamed for showing weakness, which he internalized heavily. He saw nothing wrong with this and still held Dolmen and Namil on high pedestals, wanting to make them happy no matter what.
