Tear Jerker / Disney Villain Songs (Lydia the Bard)

• Rapunzel's song opens with her back in her tower, berating herself for not listening to Mother Gothel and coldly repeating all of the insults her nominal caretaker lobbed at her.
• Megara's turning point comes when she pushes Hercules out of the way of the falling pillar, only for Hercules to regard her with utter disgust before walking away, leaving her to perish in a painful reminder of how her last love betrayed her.
• Through Flashback, Moana's song reveals how her father set the ancestral boats aflame and locked her away in a misguided effort to "protect" her from the dangers of the world beyond their island. By the time she managed to escape six months later, many lives had been lost, including her mother's, which ultimately fuels her decision to not complete her quest in favor of confronting him with the evidence that she could have saved everyone.
• Mirabel's song is effectively a "The Reason You Suck" Speech delivered to her whole family for how they failed to learn anything from what happened to Bruno, opting to treat her as The Unfavorite and blame her for all of their problems until she decided to fulfill all their expectations.
  Mirabel: I suffered all the heartache, I sacrificed for your sake as you ruled and you reigned from above. Well now my pain is ending, I'm done with this pretending, finally free from chasing your love. Free from your LOVE!
• While Anna's song is primarily a Dark Reprise of "For the First Time in Forever", it dips into "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?" as she recounts her failed efforts to reach out to Elsa over the years.
• Merida's song opens with a series of tapestry-like illustrations showing how her attempt to cure Elinor and the triplets failed, leaving her with a scarred face and Forced to Watch as her mother was cut down before her. This transitions into a shot of her holding the head of her mother's pelt up against hers, foreheads touching, before solemnly donning it.
  Merida: I never thought we'd end up here. Never considered I might lose those I loved only to be forced into a life I didn't want. And I never thought I would be capable of what I'd have to do next.
  • Lords MacGuffin and MacIntosh had to watch their sons be murdered (the Dingwalls were killed at the same time). Both of the fathers are left to try and fight Merida to avenge their children - and of course, they fail.
  • At the end of her Roaring Rampage of Revenge, once she's run her father through with his own sword, she sheds a Single Tear. Fergus notices and reaches up as if trying to brush it away, but doesn't have the strength, his hand falling limp at his side. She then grimly replaces him on the throne, glaring down everyone present.
• Anastasia wasn't able to convince Marie that she was her long-lost granddaughter, spurring her to strike a deal with the demons in Rasputin's reliquiary. At the end, it's heavily implied that Marie realizes too late that she actually was who she claimed to be, after she's used those demonic powers to conquer Russia and take revenge upon its citizens, blaming everyone for how she was robbed of her family and past.
• As the Beast succumbs to his modified curse, becoming a feral beast fully devoted to the very woman who betrayed his trust, the servants transform into inanimate objects as well. Lumière and Cogsworth are the last to go, with Lumière holding the feather duster that used to be his girlfriend for as long as possible before his arms forcibly affix themselves upwards like any other candelabra.
• Tiana's song is shared with Charlotte, as her Childhood Friend tries appealing to her better nature, only to be told that "Babe if you're against it, I don't want you here!" Still, Tiana lets her walk away in the end, and her smile fades after Charlotte closes the door.
• Isabela's Villain Song shows that Alma spent the entirety of her granddaughter's life trying to stamp out anything that didn't fit into the Control Freak's narrow-minded views of what she believed Isabela should be, tossing away the cacti she grew and punishing her for daring to act her age by playing with her siblings and cousins.
  • Alma initially responds to Isabela calling her out by coldly glaring her down, seemingly not giving a single, solitary shit about how much pain she's caused... until she sees her shedding a Single Tear. Even then, it's not entirely clear what she's shedding Tears of Remorse over: hurting her granddaughter or watching her idealized future go up in flames.
• Tinkerbell was Forced to Watch as her fellow fairies sickened and died out due to people losing faith in their kind. Poor Fawn wound up dying in her arms when she succumbed to her sickness while trying to help Tink figure out a cure...
  • At the end, Peter is Forced to Watch Wendy fall to her death, while Tinkerbell flies around her in order to make it look like she's trying to save her.
