- PJ Clarkson was an asshole that's for sure, but even when his transgender daughter came out, he truly loved her. His last words before Lena kills him is to try to tell her that he was so proud.
- In a similar vein, Danny Clarkson becomes more and more pitiable as the game goes on seeing as he learned that his own wife murdered their daughter and his father-in-law also bit the dust.
- Patricia knowing all along that she's a Clarkson, her father was insane and that her mother was obese and drugged on Saint Rouge. Even as everything is set on fire, she tells her daddy to get to safety and let her die. Instead, Melvin decides to atone for his sins and die with his wife while telling York to protect his daughter.Melvin: "The worst father graced with the sweetest daughter...life can be a bitch sometimes, but it wasn't all that bad."
- The scene then cuts to Patricia crying into York's chest as it starts to rain.
- Zach breaking down and revealing his guilt over failing to save Emily and begging York to just let him go to the afterlife after hallucinating Patricia blaming him for not being strong enough to save her.Zach: Dammit York. Please just take me. Take me to the other side...
- After Forrest Kaysen is gone for good, Zach dies. Patricia is begging York to bring Zach back to life by making a contract to be the one to protect him.Patricia: Save Zach! I know you can save him!
York: Death is inevitable, Patricia. It descends upon us all, eventually. All life dies in the end. And no one can change that.
Patricia: B-but...we're finally together again...this isn't fair! - Avery is a mentally unwell man who has been taken advantage of by the very same people he thought he could trust. He was truly heartbroken by Lena's death, and it's something that stays with him for the rest of his life. His boss fight depicts him as a young boy, showing that despite his hulking size he still has the mind of a young child. Avery has done a lot of bad things, but he also shows a lot of remorse for it. And even worse, Zach reveals in the end that he got what equated to several life sentence because of what he was manipulated into doing.
