- The entire ending. Michael is killed along with Whit and 183 others in the FBI bombing and posthumously framed for it while the Lang's get away with everything, with the implication that they'll carry out at least one more attack with an innocent person taking the fall. Making it worse, Michael's death orphans Grant, who will wrongly have to live with the stigma of being a terrorist's son.
- As Michael is believed to be the bombing's perpetrator and not the victim he really is, his name will not be included on any memorials.
