Under the Bridge is an American true crime drama television miniseries developed by Quinn Shephard that is based upon the book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey. The series premiered on Hulu on April 17, 2024. Samir Mehta serves as showrunner.
Under the Bridge follows the murder of Reena Virk in 1990s British Columbia. Vritika Gupta plays Virk, while Riley Keough plays the author, Godfrey, and Lily Gladstone plays Cam Bentland, a police officer investigating Virk's murder. The series also stars Vritika Gupta, Chloe Guidry, Javon Walton, Izzy G, Aiyana Goodfellow, Ezra Faroque Khan, and Archie Panjabi.
Under the Bridge contains examples of the following:
- The '90s: The show is set in 1997. The two biggest '90s pop culture references in the show are The Crips
and John Gotti, which is where the "Crips Mafia Gang" (actually a group of obsessed girls in a BC foster home) derive their name. - Innocently Insensitive: Cam is mildly annoyed when her dad (who's white) encourages her that affirmative action will help her in her police career.
- Minority Police Officer: Cam, played by indigenous performer Lily Gladstone.
- Twofer Token Minority: Cam is indigenous and gay or bi, given she had a relationship with Godfrey.
