The PM’s Daughter is an Australian teen TV show. All eight episodes were released on ABC Me in January 2022.

Cat is forced to move to Canberra after her mother unexpectedly becomes the Prime Minister of Australia. While she herself doesn’t agree with all of her mum’s policies, she is also unhappy with the mysterious group called The Agitators who are working to bring her mum down. With the help of her new friends Sadie, Ollie, and the mysterious Miro, Cat decides to find out for herself who is behind the threats to her mum.

The PM's Daughter provides examples of:

  • Artistic License – Politics: If the Prime Minister steps down, the Deputy Prime Minister would not automatically become Prime Minister. Instead, the government would have a vote for the next party leader.
  • Class Trip: The class goes on an excursion to Parliament House.
  • Disappeared Dad: Cat’s father is dead, resulting in her feeling even lonelier when her mother is busy being the Prime Minister.
  • First Day of School Episode: Episode 1. After moving to Canberra, Cat must start at a new school.
  • Never Filled Out Official Paperwork: It’s made to look like this is the case. Isabel actually has filled in all her paperwork, but after the paperwork proving she renounced her Chilean citizenship (a requirement of being a politician in Australia) she is forced to step down.
  • New Transfer Student: Cat in episode 1. Her first day at the new school doesn’t exactly go well.
  • Nominated as a Prank: Cat is nominated to be year leader by the Agitators, even though she doesn’t want to run, to cause tension between her and Sadie (her friend who is genuinely running).
  • No Party Given: The party currently in government is never specified; however, judging by the political stances of various characters, it is heavily implied to be Labor.
  • Parental Betrayal: Ollie is devastated to find out the mole is his father Tim, who thinks Isabel is taking the party in the wrong direction and aims to become Prime Minister himself.
  • Red Herring Mole: It is revealed that Yvette is Dark Coat, only for it later to be revealed that it was Tim all along.
  • Romantic Fake–Real Turn: Cat and Miro go on a ‘date’ as a cover while they trail Yvette. At the end of their ‘date’, they are going to kiss for real until they are interrupted.
  • School Club Front: Cat, Sadie and Ollie use garden club as an excuse to get some time alone to go after the Agitators. Ollie, however, is also invested in actually growing plants.
  • The Mole: A major plot point of the show is trying to figure out who Dark Coat is, the person feeding government information to the Agitators. It turns out to be Tim, the deputy PM.
