From the same writers of the well known Spanish comedy TV series, Aquí no hay quien viva and La Que Se Avecina, comes El pueblo ("The Countryside").

When a couple of hippies decide to found an ecological community in the apparently abandoned village of Penafria, a group of townspeople decide to move there, each with their own reasons (lack of money, identity crisis, escaping justice, etc.). However, when they arrive at the place, they have an unpleasant surprise: the village is actually inhabited by some peasants with very eccentric personalities and customs, to say the least.

Hilarity Ensues.

The series had four seasons on Amazon Prime.

This show provides examples of:

  • Ax-Crazy: Arsacio is the stereotype of the prejudiced redneck who is always angry, constantly pointing a rifle at people.
  • Big Eater: Gus is constantly eating, much to his mother's dismay. When she tries to force him to go on a diet, he tries to buy food from Juanjo.
  • Butt-Monkey: It's easier to say who is not an example of this trope in this series, but Juanjo and Nacho are without a doubt the main examples. No one respects them, not even Juanjo's wife and Nachos' best friend, and all their attempts to better themselves in life (whether honestly or dishonestly) end in disaster.
  • Crossover: The series ends up having two crossovers with La que se avecina in Seasons 12 and 13 of that show, including jokes with the physical resemblance between some characters (both series are from the same creators and share some of the same actors).
  • Demoted to Extra: Maca, Rafa, Moncho, Gus and Chicho, who were main cast members in the first two seasons, return to the big city and are credited as guest or recurring characters in the third season.
