Script / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Blue Door

Go To

In 2010, Platinum Dunes and Michael Bay picked up the license for the TMNT, planning to make a Reboot of the original films. While the final film came out in 2014, a script written in 2012 was leaked online.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Blue Door is one of the first drafts of the 2014 TMNT film, written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec. This script contained a far different story to the final movie, including characters like Casey Jones and Krang and reimagines the entire origins and mythology of the turtles themselves.

The script can be found here.

This work provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of his civilian identity being Oroku Saki, Shredder has the name Colonel Schrader.
  • Adaptation Species Change: The Turtles, along with the Shredder, are aliens from Dimension X.
  • Alien Blood: Schrader's blood is blue. It serves as a hint that he's not human.
  • Big Bad: Krang is the one who killed the Turtles' parents and wants to keep his control over Dimension X by creating the Technodrome.
  • The Chosen One: The Turtles were destined to be the ones who defeat Krang, which is why he kills their parents.
  • The Heavy: Colonel Schrader serves Krang, but is the one driving a lot of the plot, thanks to him being in the human world.
  • Hourglass Plot: The script starts with the Turtles trapped and struggling against the bonds they have been placed in by Schrader. At the end, it's Schrader, along with Bebop and Rocksteady, who is trapped and struggling.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: The script focuses more on Casey Jones than the titular characters.
