Sleeping Cocoon provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Continuing is Painful: Should the Accursed One run out of Life Points, it results in the loss of all treasure and Image Points gathered within the dungeon.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Losing a battle just results in the Accursed One booted from the dungeon, although not with their treasure and Image Points. The Final Boss is what puts their life on the line, as losing results in them succumbing to the curse, and the player is booted to the title screen.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The Great Spirits are consisted of two men (Cirico and Dakuro) and two women (Izimu and Kasoa).
  • Harmful to Minors: Not even children were safe from being trapped within the cursed Grimoire, as Cirico can attest.
  • Stripperiffic: The Great Spirits' attire in their Attack evolutionary side leave little to the imagination.
  • Trapped in Another World: The Makai within the Grimoire that the Accursed One is sucked into.
  • Speaking Simlish: The Great Spirits and the Shrine Maidens have their dialogue "voiced" with choppy sound samples.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Izimu brutalized a bunch of ruffians after seeing them treat her friend as a plaything.
  • Win to Exit: Defeating the King of Sealing will allow the Accursed One to go free.
