Roleplay / Ghoul School RPG

Go To

Ghoul School RPG is a RPG using a very light system inspired by the RPG game Lasers & Feelings and taking place in a very Kitchen Sink fantasy world.

There is a sign up page and a discord page in addition to the main thread.

Each player character has a 'Monster number' from 2 to 5. When they attempt something, the player either does it as a Monster roll (Doing something a human couldn't do, or using a non-human ability) or as a Mundane roll (using human abilities). Once the player has decided what they want to do, the GM assigns a number of D6 dice and rolls them. If the roll is Monster, then each dice rolled below the player's monster number adds a success point. If the roll is Mundane, then each dice above the player's monster number adds a success point. Regardless of whether the roll is Mundane or Monster, rolling exactly the player's monster number adds two success points.

A 'stressed' situation, where the player is under a time crunch and has no special background in the activity, would be one dice (with only a one in six chance of getting two success points). A situation the player has no special tools or particular abilities, but also has time to do the task calmly, is two dice. Three or more dice represents a situation where the player character has some special attribute to help the situation be it equipment, experience, or even just special set-up.

After the roll, the GM counts the number of success points and decides the result.

The normal scale for resolving a situation is:

No success points: Failure, probably with a negative consequence.

One success point: Either a failure with no consequence or a success with a negative consequence.

Two success points: Success, generally with no special consequences beyond just succeeding at what you were doing.

Three or more success points: Success, generally with some bonus positive result.

Save the Citizen

A game where two teams compete in a mock-up village. In the center of the town is a pit, with a mechanical dummy (the 'citizen') suspended over the pit. One team (the saviors) are trying to reach the dummy and get it down from above the pit before time runs out. The other team (the villagers) are trying to defeat the other team, either by defeating them in combat or by delaying them until time runs out.

Mundane rolls can be used to stealth (either team) or to set traps (mainly the villagers team, although a saviors team could set a trap and then try to lure one or more villagers into it). Combat is done by Monster rolls.
