By the next day after the Control Spires were discovered, the Digidestined managed to free a wave of Tyrannomon and destroy a control spire in sector 01-011-DELTA. Once they managed to return to the Real World, the Digidestined decides to return home; Davis is still upset at not being able to be with Kari, Cody wants to know the reason Yolei and Davis picks on each other a lot (Apparently, Davis accidentally kicked a soccer ball to Yolei when they first met a few weeks ago), TK is distressed at the fact that Patamon stubbornly refuses to eat microwave food until TK found a meal that made Patamon happy, Kari and Tai practiced rock-paper-scissors with each other in hopes that Tai can beat the champion and win 20$, the Emperor in the mean time devises his death trap with Wormmon helping him, brushing off his mother's declaration of love in the process.
The next day, Davis managed to break a window of the principal's office, causing him to be detained by the principal (Jonathon Motoyama). The Digidestined in the mean time receives a message from Izzy stating that sectors began turning white without their input meaning that Digimon resistance are gathering only for the formerly cleared sector 01-000-ALPHA aka Vally of Death to return black again. The Digidestined decides to approach that sector as it has just been created in hopes of destroying the spire before the Emperor fortifies it leaving Davis and Demiveemon behind in the process.
Upon entering sector the Valley of Death, they immediately fall down into a trap hole where they meet the Emperor face-to-face. The Emperor then proceeds to explain to the Digidestined the term of ''Order'' and ''Chaos'' and how he desires to maintain ''Order'' in the Digital World. After responding to a couple of Digidestined's retorts, the Emperor decides to round them up outside, waiting for their faithful leader to arrive.
Eventually, Davis managed to get out of the principal's office and took Demiveemon along with him as they approach to the Vally of Death...and landed smack-dab into the Emperor's death trap.
The figure grimaced at this scene as he realized that the Emperor threatens Davis using the real Digidestined as hostage and not some Bakemon impersonation that he used just to specifically kill Davis. Seeing this change, he along with his (Agumon) decides to personally intervene and directly help the Digidestined.
Back in the death trap, the Emperor gives Davis a Sadistic Choice, either let his friends die or have an entire squad of Airdramon, Tyrannomon, and Deltamon. Davis immediately offers himself begging him to release his friends, except that the Emperor isn't going to honor his end of the deal and orders Deltamon to blast apart Davis with Triplex Force...
But just as Deltamon is about to blast Davis, the mystery figure and his Digimon intercepts the attack and breaks the Dark Ring of every single Digimon as well as breaking the Control Spire. After all the commotion, the Digimon known as Sonoccomon appears along with an unknown character who fully reveal himself for the first time.
