• Attack! Attack! Attack!: Jim's opponent the Mask of Anger uses his Anchor Knight's special ability to discard three cards and deal 600 damage to Jim per card.
• Food as Bribe: Yubel offers the three students a steak in exchange for dueling the remaining students.
• Laughably Evil: The Mask of Laughter can't talk without laughing. Even Axel goes from a no-nonsense person to making a joke.
  Axel: * in response to the Mask of Laughter laughing* You look in the mirror or something?
• Malevolent Masked Man: The three students once they merge with a duel spirit each wear a mask on their costume.
• Silent Antagonist: Jesse's opponent, the Mask of Silence. He skips his first turn allowing Jesse a free attack. He starts talking on his second turn and uses silent themed cards to block his strategies.
• Stuff Blowing Up: Axel's opponent, the Mask of Laughter specializes in clown themed explosives which deal direct damage to his life points.
