  • Forced Transformation: The ogre is actually Nedley.
  • Fun with Homophones: "Not today, seitan."
  • Kangaroo Court: The Sheriff says they need to give Wynonna a trial before they can execute her. Then they let her free in a cook-off, only to try feeding her to a monster.
  • Mistaken for Murderer: Chrissy Nedley and the rest of the town believe Wynonna killed Nedley.
  • Never Found the Body: Nedley was presumed dead but his body was never found. Because of the monster in the woods, everyone assumed it had been eaten. Turns out, he was the monster.

  • Running Gag: After he falls into the trap laced with skunk juice, people repeatedly comment on how bad Doc smells. (Until the end, when the owner of The Glory Hole says he smells good.)
    • The owner says he smells like heaven. The Glory Hole is a demon bar.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Doc and Waverly are both sad about missing so much Property Brothers
    • One of the monsters in the woods supposedly has claws like a cross between Wolverine Claws and a chainsaw
    • The ogre is compared to Chewbacca
    • When Wynonna is brooding and says she does well in the cold, Rachel calls her "Jon Snow in a B cup."
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: Doc, Nicole, and Waverly subdue the ogre (in Slow Motion) to the tune of "Here By Your Side."
