Recap / White Collar S02E10 "Burke's Seven"

Go To

MOZZIE HAS BEEN SHOT.

They will get the guy who shot him. More importantly, they'll get his boss.

Tropes:

  • Argentina Is Nazi-Land: Larssen was smuggling nazi dinnerware to Argentina.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • Peter's coffee mug goes missing. Peter's fingerprint shows up inside a gun found in Larssen's place.
    • Mozz asks Elizabeth for bendy straws in his care package. He uses them to construct the fractal coded for by the music box.
  • Foreshadowing: Within the episode, Peter foreshadows his ability to ride horses by noting he grew up in upstate New York around horses. For the greater arc, Larssen's nazi-flatware smuggling operation foreshadows the fact that the music box leads, eventually, to stolen Nazi gold.
  • Found Family via Work: Like the last time Peter was in trouble, everyone on his team shows up to save his job, forming Burke's Seven.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Except for tracking down forgers, Neal never leaves Mozzie's side at the hospital.
  • It's Personal: Neal calls in every high end ID forger in the city for help catching a criminal. They refuse until they learn he's the guy who shot Mozzie. Then they're all in.
  • Meaningful Echo: First Peter is shocked to realize that Neal is agreeing with him about working within the law. Then Neal is shocked that Peter is willing to go rogue.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Larssen is smuggling dishes? From the forties? Oh, they're nazi dishes.
  • The Reveal: The Big Bad, The Man Behind the Man, is Vincent Adler. The man who made Neal the man he is today.
  • Serious Business: Neal finally listens to Peter and agrees to operate inside the law. Also, don't touch Peter's coffee mug.
  • Shout-Out: To Ocean's Eleven, obviously. Neal also gives Mozzie a fake name at the hospital, Ivan Blemins: Invisible Man.
  • Turn in Your Badge: Peter gets framed for planting the gun at Larssen's place and put on leave (fired, just waiting for the paperwork).
  • UST: "Neal. It's been a while. Nice to see you fully clothed. Love the hat."
