As the Paladins travel through the solar system, Sam discourages them from bringing Voltron to Earth to avoid a Hostage Situation. With the Garrison's help, the Paladins leave the lions on the rings of Saturn, steal a patrol ship, and crashland into the ruins of a city close to the Garrison. They're quickly assaulted by Galra forces, but Griffin and Rizavi arrive in time to help them and bring them back to the base. Lance and Pidge are reunited with their families and the Alteans are introduced to Iverson. The group discusses strategy, and Team Voltron is introduced to the Garrison's developments.
Sanda wants to exchange Voltron for the safety of Earth, but the team shuts her down. They decide to use Sendak's memories stored in the Castle information to figure out his plan, and create a holographic simulation of Sendak by integrating it by the way the Castle maintained King Alfor's AI. Meanwhile, Keith and Hunk plan to retrieve Hunk's family, and are accompanied by Griffin and Veronica. They are found by a resistance member, who informs them that because the work camps are nonstop outside the encampment, they can't get Hunk to his family, but Hunk is able to see his parents from afar. He vows that he'll rescue them.
Meanwhile, Allura shows Shiro a new prosthetic arm made from Sam's prototypes.
