Eager to find a new way to prank the ponies of Ponyville, Rainbow Dash is excited when the latest issue of her favorite prankster's magazine has an add featuring a new Minotaur-devised pranking implement: the water balloon. Even though her usual partner-in-crime, Pinkie Pie, refuses to get involved, Rainbow Dash refuses to be swayed and is determined to give it a shot.

- Complexity Addiction: As in "If Rainbow Dash Can't Sleep", this story showcases how Rainbow Dash tends to fixate on the "cool" over the "practical". For example, she'd rather get hexed by Poison Joke than just get a simple screwdriver to fasten the water balloons in place.
- Foreshadowing: You can really see the Hilarity Ensues ahead of time when Pinkie Pie, of all ponies, is disinterested in water balloons.
- Human Furniture Is a Pain in the Tail: Water balloons are almost useless to non-unicorn ponies because they don't have fingers. Also, whilst a pegasus wielding a cloud with intent to soak is more obvious, only another pegasus can interfere with it. Water balloons, however, can be sent right back at a pegasus with a unicorn's field or even, presumably, a skilled earth pony's kick.
- You Fool!: You can feel the disdain in Zecora's words when she responds to Rainbow Dash's request for Poison Joke to be able to use her new water balloons.
