Fed up with her parent's hipster phase, Gwen buys a ray gun that changes people's personalities and tests it on her classmates.
- Acquired Poison Immunity: Victims of the ray gun become less susceptible to its effects until it has no effect anymore, or the gun gets turbocharged.
- Emotion Bomb: The ray gun's primary effect is to modify personalities. Gwen tests it by making Jude feel several different emotions in succession.
- Late to the Realization: Gwen only realizes that permanently changing someone's personality is wrong when she's staring down the barrel of the ray gun, which is in the now-evil Cody's hands.
- Mirror Morality Machine: The ray gun can turn people into the opposite of their normal personalities. After getting turbocharged, the effects become extreme and permanent.
- Courtney goes from a high-strung perfectionist to a lazy slacker.
- Duncan goes from a troublemaking contrarian to an obedient minion.

- Gwen goes from a Creepy Child to a cuteness-obsessed social media addict.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Gwen's parents go through this when they see Gwen in a Cat Girl costume and makeup and assume their hipster phase has caused their daughter to go insane.
- Somebody Else's Problem: Gwen doesn't care about the havoc Cody is wreaking thanks to her actions, until he steals her egg chair. When she tries to tattle to Chef, he doesn't care because the normally neurotic Courtney doesn't care either, which means nothing must be wrong.
