Chapter 1

Four months after his exile at the end of the show, Jon Snow has been brooding on his failings in life that led to his exile. A man appears before him that identifies himself as The Stranger, one of the Gods of the Faith of the Seven. The Stranger reveals to Jon that his exile wasn't supposed to happen, he was supposed to win against the Night King, but was hijacked. Furthermore, Bran Stark, now King of the Six Kingdoms, is actually dead, his body now inhabited by Brynden "Bloodraven" Rivers, the Three-eyed Raven. Driven by his resentment over being sent to the Wall after King Aegon V acceded to the Iron Throne, Bloodraven arranged for everything so that Jon, the last Targaryen, would be exiled as he was. Now, The Stranger offers Jon an opportunity to do everything over again and he and the fellow Gods would keep Bloodraven from hijacking Jon's Blood Magic for his own ends. He also reveals that Vermax, dragon of Jacerys Velaryon, left three dragon eggs when Jacerys came to Winterfell mustering support for his mother Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons, which Bloodraven had stolen from Cregan Stark's tomb. The Stranger sends Jon back in time... to 293 AC.

Chapter 2

293 A.C. Jon wakes up in his childhood bedroom in Winterfell in a great deal of pain. The Stranger appears before him and explains more about sending someone back; it wasn't an easy task due to not having part of his soul, thanks to his resurrection by the Lord of Light and being sapped of his Blood Magic. Now with his full power, Jon will be able to hatch the dragon eggs by simply cutting his hand. He also explains that others will be sent back in time by the Gods to help Jon in his task to fulfill the Prince who was Promised prophecy and stop the Long Night. Jon wakes sometime later and after remembering the Stranger's words about something sent to help him, finds the Valyrian Steel sword Blackfyre under his bed. Jon then goes downstairs and sees everyone who he'd known in life as they were five years before. When Robb says he's late, Jon replies that he had a bad dream about the dead returning and a mad tyrant burning down King's Landing. After a moment's pause at his words, everyone returns to their conversations, though his "father" Ned eyes him suspiciously.

Chapter 3

Jon, Robb, and Theon head down to the training yard to practice swordfighting with Ser Rodrik Cassel; Jon is nervous about how he, an adult in a child's body, would make his abilities look less suspicious. Robb beats Theon, but Jon, lost in his thoughts, defaults to instinct and lays out Robb with a single blow. Shocked by his actions, Jon runs to the crypts where he contemplates the statue of Lyanna Stark and about how little he knows of her. Arya visits him there, mentioning that he'd been down in the crypts for hours. Jon then reaches the tomb of Cregan Stark and, opening the coffin, finds the three dragon eggs that Daenerys had in the previous timeline. He then goes to Ned's solar, where his uncle reveals that he knows that Jon has traveled back in time... and so has he, this time by the Father. Ned also tells Jon that his name isn't Aegon because Lyanna didn't live long enough to do so, it's always been Jon. Jon shows Ned the dragon eggs; placing each into the fireplace, he cuts his hand and hatches the three eggs.

Chapter 4

Jon awakens from a nightmare to the Burning of King's Landing; the baby dragons look at him concernedly. Jon intends to rename them differently from how they'd been named in the original timeline. At breakfast, Robb asks Jon how he developed the move where he'd downed him. Lady Stark is unhappy that Ned has decided to educate Jon alongside Robb in lordly lessons; Robb jokes that Jon will have to suffer with him. At the practice yard, Jon is placed with the younger men and pitted against a young guardsman named Will, whom Jon beats easily.

Ned meanwhile is dealing with Catelyn, who dislikes Jon being taught as a lord alongside Robb. He notes that the truth about Jon's parentage will come out at some point or other and while he feels some guilt over siding against his old friend King Robert, the latter's mistakes as a king has lessened it somewhat. Ser Rodrik and Maester Luwin enter; Ser Rodrik reports that Jon is doing well in his training and Maester Luwin mentions that Jon has proven a good student in his lessons; almost as if he'd been a lord himself. Ned now requests that Sansa be included in lessons, both in fighting and how to manage a household; Arya will be included when she is old enough as he wants both his daughters to be able to defend themselves and the North should the need arise.
