** Negan gets this too. His overall gentle and almost fatherly treatment of Carl and Judith proves that he's much more of a dynamic character than the AxCrazy murderer we met at the beginning of the season.

* DareToBeBadass: An odd version, Negan to Carl. When Carl fearfully asks what Negan's going to do to him, Negan turns around and tells him not to be afraid of him, because he sees Carl as a badass and he doesn't want the kid to ruin that image by being scared.

Added some more tropes based on Negan's interaction with Carl, but it could use some corrections so feel free to correct.

* KickTheDog: As to be expected of a Negan-centric episode, this has a whole lot of dog-kicking. Negan forces Carl to take off his bandage and sing for him, kisses Sherry in front of Dwight, ridicules Fat Joey when he brings Lucille to him, and once again makes fun of Olivia's weight and also tries to seduce her. Meanwhile, Rosita rips into Eugene and says he's a useless coward.

Rosita when she rips into Eugene and says he's calls him a useless coward.

* PetTheDog: Negan has some of these moments in his interaction with Carl among his KickTheDog moments. A couple of these are when he ends up making Carl cry when he forces him to take off his bandage, he apologizes and makes attempts to compliment him on his disfigurement calling it badass on some occasions and he also never actually hurts Carl, only messes with him psychologically. He is later gentle with Judith though this is also somewhat a kick the dog moment as him holding her is clearly making Carl uncomfortable and he jokes to Judith and Carl that maybe he should kill him and Rick.

* VillainRespect: Negan for Carl as he respects how close Carl came to killing him when he opened fired on him and killed two of his men and because of this Negan decides to have him as a "guest" in his compound, instead of killing him.

!Season 7, Episode 7

-->'''While Negan takes Carl on a special tour of the Sanctuary, several plots against the tyrant begin to gain traction.'''

A truck full of Saviors encroaches the Sanctuary. After sabotaging several boxes of supplies, Jesus tells Carl they must hop out now and continue on foot, but Carl stays inside after Jesus jumps out. When the truck arrives, Carl grabs a rifle from the stash of looted supplies and when a Savior enters the truck, he opens fire, killing him. He exits the truck and demands the Saviors surrounding him drop their weapons. Negan arrives, impressed at Carl's bravery. Dwight manages to subdue Carl, but not before he kills one last Savior. As Daryl watches from the walker-infested courtyard, Negan offers Carl a hand up, and eventually, Carl takes it.

Negan takes Carl inside the Sanctuary, where a large group of Saviors assemble to hear him speak. Negan declares that everyone will get fresh veggies at dinnertime, no points required, to his audience's delight. Negan brags to Carl how the Saviors respect him and how they bow before him. Carl is taken to a comfy room where several of Negan's well-dressed wives are. Sherry is among them, and is consoling a crying Amber. Negan asks Sherry if Amber indeed had cheated on him with her former husband Mark, and Sherry confirms it. After making out with Sherry in front of Dwight, Negan forgives Amber, and orders Dwight and Daryl to prepare an iron for mark.

Meanwhile, Rick and Aaron are still on their supply run, with one day left to gather supplies for Negan. After encountering several warning signs, the two find a house in the middle of a lake, where they may find some much-needed supplies for the tribute.

Back at Alexandria, Rosita is taking Eugene outside the walls to his makeshift munitions factory. She shoots down Gabriel and Spencer's attempt to join them, and Spencer insists they must submit to the Saviors - and that he could do better than Rick in their current situation. On the road, Spencer admits to Gabriel that he hates Rick, but Gabriel steadfastly defends him for all the people he ''has'' saved. Disgusted, Gabriel eventually exits the vehicle and heads home alone. In the woods, Spencer finds a walker in a tree, and is able to get down the structure containing the walker.

At the Sanctuary, Negan has taken Carl to his private room and demands that Carl take off his bandage, threatening violence in retaliation for the deaths of his men. Carl eventually complies, and when Negan is bewildered at the gaping hole in his head and jokes about it, Carl breaks down and cries. Taken aback, Negan sincerely apologizes, saying he's forgotten that he's still a kid. Negan then forces Carl to sing him a song, and Carl tearfully sings "You Are My Sunshine" while Negan swings Lucille (which was brought to him by Fat Joey) in the background. Negan deduces that Carl's mother sang it to him, and Carl tells him how he was forced to put her down. Negan is surprised, but says that Carl looks like and ''is'' a badass, empowering him. Carl tells Negan that he should kill him and his group, warning they are a greater threat than he realizes, and Negan considers it. Negan then brings Carl to the great hall of the Sanctuary, where many have gathered around a restrained Mark. Negan then takes an iron to Mark's face, scarring him like Dwight.

Negan then takes Carl back to Alexandria, and orders Daryl to be returned to his solitary cell when Daryl tries to threaten him on behalf of Carl. Negan arrives in Alexandria and mocks Olivia's weight to her face, but then tries to seduce her. He doesn't retaliate when Olivia gives him a well-earned slap, and then has Carl give him a tour of his home while they wait for Rick to return. Negan then meets baby Judith, and while Carl watches in fear, begins to hold her. While he is nothing but gentle with Judith, Negan muses over killing Rick and Carl and taking up residence in Alexandria.

At the munitions shop, Eugene tries to talk Rosita out of assassinating Negan, but Rosita instead chews him out, saying that he is a weak coward who does nothing for the group. Eugene eventually complies in making Rosita's bullet, but refuses to forgive her when she tries to apologize for what she said. Rosita is delighted when she learns of Negan's arrival in Alexandria, as is Spencer, who has returned from a successful supply run and intends to do more than just give him supplies.

At the Sanctuary, Daryl receives a note slipped to him under the door to his cell - instructing him to escape ''now''.
