Tropes pertaining to The Tick vs. Mr. Mental

  • Faux Horrific: The Tick's worst fear is being just another office worker, with people saying that he's nothing special.
  • Hypnotic Head: Mr. Mental's control over the Tick is shown by his face hovering around the Tick and giving him orders.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Arthur tries to get the Tick to come to and recognise him. It partly works, but Mr. Mental takes control again.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: The device turns Mr. Mental from a limited telepath to a flying, telekinesis-wielding superbeing while he wears it.
  • No Hero to His Valet: A villainous example. Mr. Mental's assistant apparently used be supportive of his evil plans, but she's grown jaded to them never working.
  • Weak-Willed: The reason why Mr. Mental targets the Tick is that he combines tremendous physical power with a mind that's simple enough to control.

Tick: The human mind is a dangerous plaything, boys. When it's used for evil, watch out! But when it's used for good, then things are much nicer. And let's try and keep that... in mind.
