- Crappy Homemade Gift: London pulls Maddie's name for Secret Santa. Maddie is thrilled because she's expecting something super expensive, but that's the year London decides to try making her own gift. Maddie ends up with a misshapen sweater she can't even wear, and spends the entire night trying to get rid of it, until London makes it clear that she really did try and make something for her. Maddie has a change-of-heart by the end.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: There is a set of scenes which references the birth of Jesus. Mary and Joseph are a couple who are nearing the birth of their child. It is Christmas Eve, and no rooms are left for rent. Instead, Mary gives birth in an elevator much like Jesus was born in a shed.
- A Gift for Themselves: Another gift joke: Moseby draws his own name for Secret Santa. He buys himself an expensive watch.
