The gang travels to England and meet up with tennis star Jimmy Pelton, who's supposedly been put under a curse and told to drop out of the Wimbleton tournament in order to get it removed.
This episode includes examples of the following:
- Artifact of Doom: The staff of the warlock Anthos, which keeps following Jimmy around (because the culprits are planting duplicates wherever he goes).
- Gaslighting: The villains sabotage Jimmy's efforts at playing by planting fakes of Anthos's staff wherever he goes and making him think he sees the ghost of Anthos during the game via tampering with his glasses so he'll see the image of Anthos over top of one of the warlock's descendants, which Velma figures out.
- Feuding Families: In the Back Story, Jimmy Pendleton's ancestor accused the Anthos family of witchcraft and they cursed his family to suffer misfortune. Centuries later, during the episode, two Anthos descendants try to bankrupt the last Pendleton so that he'll be left homeless while they buy his ancestral estate.
