The gang goes to visit Daphne's friend Lisa Vanaugh for her 18th birthday, accompanied by Scooby-Dum. While staying at her hotel though, the gang encounters Lisa's vampiric grandfather.
This episode includes examples of the following:
- Big Eater: Dum snacks away on a fair amount of hamburgers, just like his cousin.
- Chekhov's Gun:
- At one point, Daphne answers a ringing phone but hears nothing except a bell. It turns out that Lisa is being hypnotized to think she's a vampire and the bell is the signal.
- Fred, Daphne and Velma find a slip of paper with "exo 6 desmo" written on it. It's a piece of an order slip left over from Leon buying some vampire bats for the ruse.
- Evil Uncle: Leon, who's plotting to have Lisa institutionalized so he can claim the family hotel for himself.
- Face-Revealing Turn: Midway through the episode, Lisa is left in a room with Shaggy and Scooby to guard her. The phone rings, and she answers it. When she turns around, she bares pointed teeth and hisses.
- Gaslighting: The episode's plot involves the villain manipulating Lisa into thinking she's going to become a vampire and then plans to expose her beliefs to the authorities, proving her unfit to run the family hotel.
- Inflating Body Gag: Scooby uses a bike pump to inflate himself into thinking he's too fat to fit through a small tunnel while going after the vampire, Velma then bounces Scooby like a basketball into the tunnel that causes him to deflate.
- Took a Level in Badass: Downplayed, but Scooby-Dum comes across as a little more useful and less prone to mistakes in this episode.
