Recap / The Rising of the Shield Hero S2E11 "Kizuna"

Go To

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Berserk Button: L'Arc hates it when Naofumi calls him "young master" and Naofumi knows it.
  • Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: After the heroes stop Yomogi's sword from bonding itself to her body before it self destructs, as Kizuna approaches her, Yomogi tells Kizuna to kill her, to which Kizuna is too confused about people in Glass's world actually saying that to honor that request.
  • Dumb Muscle: Yomogi is established as not being very bright, though she is strong enough to fend off Kizuna and Naofumi's collective party, and was even able to block an attack from the Vassal Katana, which was established in the last episode as being effective for its One-Hit Kills, with her magic sword.
  • Easy Evangelism: It takes an afternoon seeing how much his non-Obviously Evil enemies hate him for Yomogi to doubt her loyalties to Kyo.
  • Evil Weapon: Yomogi uses a magic sword gifted to her by Kyo. While it serves her well fighting against all of the heroes, it eventually tries to take her body for itself, the heroes being forced to separate it from her before they can destroy it.
  • Honor Before Reason: Yomogi is genuinely loyal to Kyo and is willing to kill and be killed for him. She's also not very bright, challenging all of them at once by herself.
  • Hypocrite: Yomogi appears to challenge all of the Heroes to a fight to the death... and then calls them cowardly for challenging her when they outnumber her. She then accuses them of using skills and magic against her when all she has is her sword... her magic sword, which she then uses various skills with.
  • Knew It All Along: Kyo reveals that he knew that Kazuki was planning on killing him with the Vassal Katana the whole time.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Yomogi went to challenge the Cardinal and Vassal Heroes all by herself with no plan and nothing but an Evil Weapon Kyo gave her.
  • Save the Villain: When Yomogi's sword tries bonding with her and sucking out her life energy, Kizuna uses her weapon in its fishing mode to detach it from Yomogi before the sword self destructs.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Kazuki ignores his underlings and moves before they could diffuse Raphtalia's Time-Delayed Death attack and winds up sliced in half.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Kizuna calls out her allies when she finds out that they were invading Naofumi's world.

Kazuki Instant Blade - Mist

In the tenth episode, as Kazuki tries to take the Vassal Katana from Raphtalia, who was restored to her older form by the weapon, she easily defeats him by immobilizing him with the move "Instant Blade - Mist", which will decapitate him if he takes a step. In the proceeding episode, as Kyo berates Kazuki for failing to have Raphtalia stay imprisoned and acquiring the Katana Vassl Weapon, which Kyo was aware of Kazuki's plan to use it to kill him, Kazuki ignores his underlings and moves before they could diffuse Raphtalia's time-delayed death attack and winds up getting decapitated from the shoulder up.
