Go To

Wiseman and Alex sit at a coffeeshop, and Wiseman talks about a crush he has on the new barista. Alex takes a seemingly left-behind newspaper to read it, and a woman tells him that' her newspaper. Turning around, Alex recognizes her as Sydney (Sabine Singh), who was Todd's ex-girlfriend. After chatting, she pulls a quarter from behind Alex's ear. Sydney is a part-time show magician. She suggests Alex call her, and he finds a paper with Sydney's phone number in his pocket.

Alex and Wiseman return to the apartment, and Alex tells Todd about his encounter with Sydney. Alex wants to ask her out, but wanted to check with Todd first. Todd says to go ahead.

A few nights later, Wiseman asked Casey for help in trying to hook up with the barista, whose name is Tanya. His idea is to hacve himself seen with a pretty girl. Casey agrees if she gets free coffee and a scone with it. They go to the coffeeshop, and Tanya (Morgan Nagler) is behind the counter. They pretend to be a couple as Wiseman orders from Tanya.

Sydney and Alex return to the apartment. The next morning, they have breakfast. Todd walks and and greets Sydney. Tod starts to apologize for not handling the break-up well, but they soon argue as to who broke up with whom. Soon, Sydney leaves in a fit of rage. A few minutes later, after another argument, Todd tells Alex not to bring Sydney over.

Wiseman goes down to the coffeeshop to see Tanya. He tells he he brokle up with Casey, and chats with the barista. Tanya m,entionsed it would have been fun if she could have gotten together with him and Casey.

Wiseman asks Casey to participate in a three-way with Tanya, and Casey is, not surprisingly, opposed to the idea. Wiseman suggests that Casey can just sit back and watch, but she tells him to forget it. Wiseman asks if he could just watch Casety and Tanya, and Casey slides the door shut.

A few days later, Alex has lunch with Sydney at the Chinese restaurant. He invites Todd to sit with them. Alex wants to still date Sydney and be friends with Todd, so he insists they make up. Todd sits down with them, and soon they reminisce about their past relationship. After that, they hug for quite a while.

Wiseman goes to welcome Tanya to the building. he takes her to meet Casey, who insists she is not into three-ways. Tanya is disgusted by the concept and leaves.

Sydney comes to visit, and Alex is not with her. She had sent Alex to the boathouse in Central park so she could speak to Todd alone. Sydney asks if she could kiss him, but Todd refuses. Alex returns a minute later, and Sydney confesses that she may still have feelings for Todd. Todd then tells Alex he was not entirely uncomfortable with dating Sydney. She then walks to them and tells them to give her a few days to make her decision. Alex then tells Sydney it is over. Sydney, upset about what she just heard, generates a puff of magic smoke and visibly runs out.

Trope

  • Actor Allusion: Alex dates a part-time stage magician. In My Date with the President's Daughter, Will Friedle (Alex's actor) played a teen whose hobby was magic tricks.
  • Book Ends: in the Cold Open: Casey asks the men which shirt they like best by changing right in front of them. In the Stinger(the last broadcast scene of the series), Wiseman does the same at Casey's, before she kicks him out.
