Recap / The Raccoons S 2 E 2 "The Sweet Smell of Success!"

Go To

Airdate: 1987

Cyril tempts Bert to become his new spokesperson for his new line of cologne.

The Sweet Smell of Success! contains examples of:

  • Band Episode: The Raccoons have formed their own band in this episode, which Cyril hopes to use to promote his cologne.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The title could refer to either Bert's aspirations to become a star by acting in Cyril's commercial or Cyril's cologne Success, which smells anything but sweet.
  • Naked People Are Funny: When the Pigs try to drag Bert into the limo, they only take his sweater at first, leaving him naked.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: When the commercial airs on TV, Bert is only barely visible in it, which makes him feel like his talents are wasted. Cyril isn't satisfied with the commercial either, as his cologne still isn't selling.
  • Shout-Out: At one point, Cyril says his commercial will make Star Wars look like a slideshow.
  • Stylistic Suck: The Pigs' Concept Art of the Raccoons' band has the characters drawn very amateurishly.
