Chapter 42: Coming Home

As Luz, Anne, Amara, and the Plantars process recent events, they're met with a familiar face.

Big Damn Reunion: After 5 months in Amphibia, Luz and Anne each reunite with their parents once they get to Anne's house.
Call-Back: Luz reminds Anne of the prophecy that Maddie recited to them.
A Day in the Limelight: The Lyft Driver has a lot of focus in this chapter.
For Want Of A Nail: Unlike how "The New Normal" started out in canon, Anne informs her parents of nearly everything that happened in Amphibia without the Plantars meeting them before she gets into it. The rest of the episode outside the first five minutes aren't covered.
Internal Reveal: Luz and Anne tell their parents everything about their time in Amphibia but Sasha and Marcy's fates and betrayals, and the Lyft Driver gets a vague idea based on seeing their Amphibian friends.
Not Helping Your Case: Amara suggests setting up a memorial of Marcy after she apparently got stabbed to death, not knowing that Anne is in the middle of a mental crisis and worsening it in the process.
- She then lists out the things that Anne's just experienced in "True Colors", making Anne cried as a result. Inverted as she does this to help Anne get through her emotions.
Relationship Upgrade: After making up over their argument, Luz and Anne finally become girlfriends but choose to keep it secret from everyone besides Amara and the Plantars.
The Reveal:
- Amara has salvaged the pieces of Luz's broken staff.
- Marcy never told Amara her Dark Secret.
Secret-Keeper: The Lyft Driver figures out the Plantars and Amara are real humanoid Amphibians and agrees to keep their secret, saying it's not the weirdest thing he's ever seen.
Secret Secret-Keeper: Camila and the Boonchuys refrain from telling their respective daughters about their knowledge of what happened at the dance, deciding to let them relax after learning everything that's happened.
That Came Out Wrong: Anne, out of growing frustration over Luz saying Marcy could be dead, shouts that Marcy deserved her fate after what she did to them. This causes Luz to run away from everyone while Anne collapses to her knees in regret.
Tragic Keepsake: Uodeela's staff becomes even more of a fractured one as Amara recovered the broken pieces and returns them to Luz. Luz then throws away three pieces and keeps the decorated top one that held Uodeela's gem.
