Chapter 28: Newtopian News

Amara's return to Newtopia coincides with the arrival of a few other surprise visitors.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

The Bus Came Back: Marcy finally returns now that the story's reached the events of "Marcy at the Gates".
Call-Back: After finding Sasha's name in the Book of Losers, Anne and Marcy remember their last sleepover and how Luz won the scare dare.
A Day in the Limelight: Amara is the star of four stories while Anne and Marcy are the focus of "Friends at a Fountain" and "A Sleepy Realization". All three of them share the spotlight in the final story, "New Resolve".
For Want Of A Nail:
- In "A Sleepy Realization", Sprig spots Sasha's name in the Book of Losers after Marcy says Sasha never got in the book, causing Anne and Marcy to remember their last sleepover. This stops Anne from making her vow to find Sasha and make things right; combined with learning about the events of Tadpole Pond, Anne's opinion of Sasha worsens.
- Instead of convincing Anne to stay in Newtopia rather than returning to Wartwood with the Plantars, Marcy allows her to go upon learning Luz is heading there and knowing how much they need to make up.
The Ghost: Luz and Uodeela are constantly brought up throughout the chapter.
Internal Reveal:
- Anne informs Marcy of the truth about Sasha's actions towards Luz at the dance and of her experience in the Misty Moors.
- Amara informs Anne, Marcy, King Andrias and the Plantars of where Luz is going. She also informs the former three of Uodeela's fate and tells the girls about Sasha's actions at Tadpole Pond.
- At the end of the chapter, Anne finally tells the Plantars what happened between her and Luz.
Locked Out of the Loop: Sprig and Polly note how Anne has been avoiding talking about Luz with them, and she decides to tell them and Hop Pop the truth at the end of the chapter.
Out of Focus: Luz and Lilly don't appear due to setting off for Wartwood in the last chapter.
The Reveal: Marcy appeared in Newtopia a few days after Amara left for her apprenticeship.
Vignette Episode: The third of the series, this time consisting of seven stories.
Wham Episode: Amara returns to Newtopia, meets Anne, Marcy and the Plantars, gets the girls up to speed on what Luz has been through and of her traveling to Wartwood. Anne and the Plantars decide to return there to meet Luz (with Anne finally telling them what happened between them) and along with making his deal with Marcy, Andrias prepares to make the same deal with Amara.
