This episode provides examples of:

  • Baldness Mockery: Debbie does this when Pops mocks Blondie's name.
Pops: Dumb name for a group. If I were you, I'd have called it something different.
Debbie: If you were me, you would have called it "Baldie". [pats his head and chuckles]
  • Bandage Mummy: Robin's Frog Scout troop visits the show. After Link hurts his nose during the Pigs in Space sketch, the Frog Scouts apply first aid and wrap him in bandages. Ironically, the one place they don't cover is his nose.
  • Door Roulette: The set of "One Way or Another" has multiple doors in the background. During the number, Debbie encounters various Muppets behind them, including the Frog Scouts, sharks, demons, Butch, Timmy Monster, and a woman in a Modesty Towel.
Statler: Who was she supposed to be looking for, anyway?
Waldorf: The guy who booked her on this crummy show!
  • Living Museum Exhibit: Mulch, a hunchback who stars in "For Me and My Gal", mentions that his kids are at the museum that day.
Kermit: Mm-hm. Nice. Visiting the museum?
    Mulch: Not visiting. On exhibit.
Gargoyle: They're weird, but worth seeing.
  • Punk Rock: When the Frog Scouts ask Debbie for help earning their punk merit badges, she teaches them to do the pogo.
Kermit: Gee. Things have really changed a lot since I was in the Frog Scouts.
  • Re-Cut: The song "Forgiven" was aired in Europe only. It never aired in North America until The Disney Channel reran it in 1992.
  • Shout-Out: In the "For Me and My Gal" number, Mulch plays Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, who's getting married to a female gargoyle. At one point, he even swings around on the bell ropes.

[The Frog Scouts are in Statler and Waldorf's box.]
Robin: Can we stay here while we work on our next merit badge?
Statler: Merit badge in what?
Robin: Grumpiness.
