This episode has examples of

  • Delegation Relay: When Kermit asks for someone to tell the Borsalino Brothers to knock it off, it starts a chain of Muppets yelling from one to another "Knock it off!" But then Kermit tells them to knock off the knockin' it off, which is repeated, until Kermit yells, "KNOCK IT OOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFF!!!!!"
  • Early-Bird Cameo: One of the Bouncing Borsalinos is a prototype version of Dr. Strangepork.

  • Mythology Gag: This episode marks the debut of the Planet Koozebane. The Koozebanian Mating Ritual was initially done on a pilot for The Muppet Show called The Muppet Valentine Special, which featured Mia Farrow, and essentially contained many elements of what would become The Muppet Show.
  • Shout-Out to Shakespeare:
    • The topic of the panel sketch is whether Sir Francis Bacon was the true author of Shakespeare's plays. It gets immediately derailed when Piggy is offended because she thought they were talking about bacon.
    • Piggy later paraphrases from Hamlet; includes a Call-Back to the aforementioned panel sketch.
Piggy: Methinks the frog doth protest too much.
      Kermit: Huh?
      Piggy: That's Shakespeare.
Kermit: Sounds more like Bacon. From a ham.
Piggy: How would you like a pork chop? Hai-ya! [karate chops Kermit]

Statler: I loved it!
Waldorf: So what? You also loved World War II.
