Midge gets a big offer while Abe has to handle his grandson not living up to the Weissman legacy.
Tropes
- Bait-and-Switch: Wandering the house, Abe hears someone playing a piano concerto, thinking it's Ethan finally showing his genius...only to discover it's Esther.
- Child Prodigy: In a flashback, Abe tells Joel that every first-born Weissman son can be a normal kid for five years but as soon as they turn six, become geniuses. He thus cannot accept Ethan isn't living up to that potential.
- I Reject Your Reality: Abe shows this in the idea it is literally impossible for any accomplished genius in history to have ever been happy at one point in their lives.
- My God, You Are Serious!: When Abe snaps at Joel for talking to Ethan so much as a child and "ruined him," Joel can't believe Abe was serious about cutting his own child off until the age of six.
