"Runaway Pants"

Original Air Date: June 28, 2005

At school it is time for the "Presidents Fitness Test", but Billy is absolutely unfit for exercise. On the other hand, Nergal Junior uses his shape-shifting powers to become fit at will and excel in every test. Billy asks Junior to transform into a pair of pants that he can wear, so he can run fast and win the 50-meter race. Since Junior has never attempted to transform into inanimate objects he cannot stop running and cannot revert to his human form. Billy keeps running forever while he becomes a national sensation known as the "Fitness Lad". It is revealed that the story was just all a fabrication created by the narrator, who parodies The Twilight Zone.

"Runaway Pants" contains examples of…

  • Actually a Good Idea: When Billy tells Junior he wants him to transform into a pair of pants he can wear so he can use his legs to win the race, Mandy starts to tell Billy how that's the dumbest idea she has ever hear, only to stop and realize that it is actually the single most brilliant idea he's ever had. Billy himself acknowledges this, saying he knows he'll never have another one and that is why he has to do it.
  • Affectionate Parody: Of The Twilight Zone (1959).
  • Gone Horribly Right: Billy has Junior transform into a pair of pants he can wear so he can use his super speed to win the race. It works, but because Junior has never turned into anything but other people before they have a problem afterwards where he can't stop running and can't change back.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: An unused idea for a later TV show starring Richard Horvitz also involved an adventure with giant runaway alien pants.
  • Outclassed at the Gym: The students at Billy's school are forced to take part in a fitness test. Irwin and Nergal Jr. excel at the exams; the former because he had gotten ridiculously ripped in preparation for the test, and the latter because he is a shapeshifter who can get hypertrophied muscles on demand. In contrast, Billy is in such poor shape he can't even perform a single sit-up. After being told he is the worst performing student so far, Billy tries to cheat during the race, by having Nergal Jr. transform into shorts that can do the running for him.

"Scythe 2.0"

Original Air Date: June 28, 2005

After Grim's scythe fails to open a portal, he decides to sharpen it, but the blade breaks. Billy, Mandy and Grim go to the Underworld to meet F, who is in charge of the Underworld secret gadgets. F unveils Scythe 2.0, which is a new-and-improved sentient, autonomous, thinking and feeling computerized scythe, that Grim uses while his classic scythe is being repaired. When Mandy tells Grim to do his usual, humiliating chores, Grim delegates the work to Scythe 2.0, which rebels and decides to reap by itself, starting with Billy and Mandy. Grim saves the kids, takes Scythe 2.0 back to the Underworld, and returns with his old scythe.

"Scythe 2.0" contains examples of…

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just when Scythe 2.0 has Billy and Mandy cornered, Grim comes riding in the Doom Buggy like a bat out of hell and grabs Scythe 2.0, taking him back to the Underworld.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Grim during his Big Damn Heroes moment.
Grim: You keep away from those kids! If anyone is going to have their heads, it’s going to be me!
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Scythe 2.0 betrays Grim after being subjected to doing all of Mandy’s chores.
  • Pronoun Trouble: Scythe 2.0 has a male voice, but both F and Grim refer to it with female pronouns, but then when Scythe 2.0 attacks Billy and Mandy, Billy refers to it by male pronouns.
