Go To

Original air date: 6/11/2022

Production code: 116b

Molly struggles to make the best of her internship at Weird Larry's Pawn Shop, where "happiness comes to die." Meanwhile, Scratch hires his own intern, Reggie, so he can wait on Scratch hand and foot.

Tropes:

  • Bittersweet Ending: Even though Molly got a "C" on her internship with Weird Larry, but she had a great time with him after the former learned that the latter was making an animatronic dragon.
  • Call-Back: Molly keeps using the word "enhappify" from previous episodes. She even sings a catchy song about it.
  • Hidden Depths: Libby has a knack for baking. After just one day as an intern at a bakery, she's learned how to make some rather nice turnip-shaped cupcakes.
  • Homemade Inventions: Weird Larry uses the stuff sent to his pawn shop to make delightful contraptions for his own amusement; for Molly, he makes an animatronic dragon for her to play with.
  • I Warned You: Molly correctly predicted that Scratch's abuse of Reggie would backfire, and she wastes no time reminding him.
  • Jerkass Ball: Scratch keeps bossing around and abusing his new intern, Reggie.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In the end, Reggie becomes Scratch's boss and treats him the same way.
  • One Man's Trash Is Another's Treasure: Molly thinks Weird Larry's Pawn Shop is "where happy memories go to die", as it's where everyone unloads their old junk. But to Larry, all this "junk" is material for his homemade contraptions, which do bring joy, like the dragon Molly plays with.
  • Smelly Skunk: Weird Larry’s Pawn Shop has several skunks. Molly gets sprayed by them at every opportunity.
  • Space Whale Aesop: Never boss your intern around when they are new or they'll return the favor.
  • Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: After Ms. Roop announces Internship Week.
Scratch: What kind of weirdo gets excited about work?
    Molly: INTERNSHIP WEEK? YES!
    Scratch: Oh, right.
