* {{Expy}}: Scott Evans wants to use Central City News to start a crusade against a superhero for no good reason. [[Franchise/SpiderMan Sound familiar]]?

** Cisco says "[[Film/BackToTheFuture This is Heavy]]" when talking to Barry-2.

* IdiotBall: Jay stands conspicuously close to the breach before it finishes closing. Guess what happens?

* ArcWords: During his speech to Earth-1 Barry, Earth-2 Barry says that he did "the impossible" that day.

* BittersweetEnding: Barry, Cisco and Harry successfully rescues Jesse from Zoom and gets back to Earth-1, but Zoom supposedly kills Jay just as he got his speed back and the masked man that was with Barry and Jesse was left imprisoned.

* {{Cliffhanger}}: The episode ends with Jay supposedly dying literally by Zoom's hand and being dragged back to Earth-2.

** Zoom delivers a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to Barry in his cell out of spite, and it gives Barry the idea of how to escape (namely, {{Intangibility}}). He doesn't actually get it to work until Earth-2 Barry gives him a pep talk.

* InternalReveal: Team Flash lets Earth-2 Barry and Iris in on their mission. As a detective, the latter doesn't actually seem surprised.
* IronicEcho: Continuing the trend of showing parallelisms of the two Earths, the scene after Caitlin saves Iris in Earth-1 was followed by Earth-2 iris (and the others) holding Killer Frost at gunpoint.

* ItsALongStory: When Earth-2!Barry demands an explanation about what's going on, both Harry and Cisco told him this trope.

* NonActionGuy: Earth-2 Barry's physical incompetence was highlighted a lot in the episode.

** Cisco tries to play the similarities between Caitlin and Killer Frost so the latter will help them find Zoom's SupervillainLair.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Both Hewitt and Killer Frost where last seen facing Zoom, their death however isn't shown, so it remains ambigious if they are still alive or not. Likewise, Floyd Lawton is not shown after he was thrown by Reverb.

* AscendedMeme: Before Cisco does it for real, Killer Frost was referred to as "[[Disney/{{Frozen}} Elsa]]" by fans as early as her EarlyBirdCameo in the Season 1 finale.

* BrickJoke: Minutes after Cisco calls Killer Frost "[[Disney/{{Frozen}} Elsa]]", she proceeded to make an ice stairway similar to what the character did in the now famous "Let It Go" sequence.

* CelebrityParadox: Cisco calls Killer Frost "Elsa" in a ''Disney/{{Frozen}}'' ShoutOut. Thing is, Creator/IdinaMenzel (who voices said character) was part of the original cast of ''Theatre/{{RENT}}'' with Jesse L. Martin (Joe West). The film also has Creator/JonathanGroff who, along with Menzel, was a cast member of ''Series/{{Glee}}'' with Creator/GrantGustin (Barry himself).

** Cisco calls Killer Frost "[[Disney/{{Frozen}} Elsa.]]"

** The Caitlin Snow version of Killer Forst does her AntiHero stance in the comics against Zoom.

* TyrantTakesTheHelm: Central City Picture News's new editor Scott Evans is not as gung ho about Central City's resident superhero as the last one, and plans to start a smear campaign against him, much to Iris's chagrin.

** Skipping Velocity-8 and going right to Velocity-9 brings the serum from the comics into the Franchise/{{Arrowverse}}.

* HazyFeelTurn: Killer Frost turns on Zoom because he killed Ronnie.

* CardCarryingVillain: Geomancer loves to ''see heroes fall''.

* DespairEventHorizon: The masked man lost it when Barry and Jesse failed to get his message, [[AndIMustScream and who can blame him]].

* WritersCannotDoMath: When the masked man does his knock code, Jesse points out that he never knocks more than four times in a row. This would mean that grid he bases his code on only has 16 (4 times 4) slots, not enough to fit the English alphabet. For the grid to have 25 slots, as Jesse suggests, the maximum number of knocks should be five, because 5 x 5 = 25.

* SkewedPriorities: Jesse doesn't want to leave Earth-2 despite an evil entity who kidnapped her for almost a year is still lurking by and is hunting her and her father.

* IShallReturn: At the end of the episode, Barry promises the masked man he'll return for him.
