Chapter 2: Rise and Shine

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Call-Back: When Isabela remarks that she's never having kids, Camilo remarks that it's because she found the "five babies" remark back when she was engage to Mariano off-putting.
  • Epic Fail: One of Bruno's plays — a dictation of the life of Hernando — ended with a machine malfunction and him getting launched halfway across the village.
  • Explosive Breeder: Pedro only drew two rabbits, not having a clue where all the other ones came from. Hiccup and Mirabel can only guess, though they don't say it out loud.
  • Innocently Insensitive:
    • Karla's Super-Speed makes her rather brash and cocky.
    • While Pedro was flighty before, ever since he got his gift he seems to be less aware of his surroundings than usual. In one instance, he draws a waterfall while the entire family is waiting to go to the bathroom.
    • Peep's Safety Freak behavior tends to do reach into this territory, often micromanaging everyone's behavior in order to "protect them" from any potential dangers.
  • Living Toys: Using his gift, Pedro floods the house with living mock-ups of toy rabbits.
  • Mythology Gag: Bruno claims "we don't talk about Hernando" after a disastrous play he did about him.
  • Noodle Incident: One of Casita's bathrooms is undergoing repairs after one of Diego's more disastrous pranks.
  • Safety Freak: Knowing that she will be future leader of the Encanto, Peep started applying her paranoia into protecting her family from anything she perceives as dangerous. Unfortunately, she sees danger everywhere.
Mirabel: Peep... Do you think we can skip the safety-check today?
Peep: No way! If I miss even one day, everyone could DIE!
  • Speed Demon: While fairly downplayed, Karla's Super-Speed has given her a bit of an ego.
