Chapter 13: Anything Grows
Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:
- Catch a Falling Star: Toothless has to do this to save Hiccup from the earthquake.
- For Want Of A Nail: In Encanto, the crack that goes through the town while Alma and Mirabel argue is just that: a crack in the road. Here, it's a massive crevice that swallows Hiccup and he could have fallen to his death, or at least seriously hurt himself.
- Heroic Spirit: When the Madrigal's drama wreaks havoc on the town — covering the town with vines, then an earthquake — Hiccup and Toothless are the first to act, Toothless blasting away obstacles to evacuate trapped citizens.
- In Spite of a Nail: While it all happens in the background, the events of Encanto from Mirabel finding the vision to Casita collapsing all happen while Hiccup and Toothless are doing their own business in town.
- Loved by All: Since Antonio's gift assures everyone that Toothless is harmless, he becomes incredibly popular with the townsfolk, random citizens giving him snacks and children giving him all of the petting he wants.
- Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: While Hiccup was the weakest and least competent in a place wrought with constant danger, he is much more accustomed to it. In comparison, the people in the Encanto have been in peace-times for more than fifty years with no serious problems to speak of. Because of this, Hiccup is the first to act in saving citizens who need saving while most of the others are overcome with panic.These people really weren't accustomed to danger, were they? Hiccup was used to dealing with life-threatening circumstances every week.
