Mugman: Why would you launch our only compass!?
After Cuphead launches the family's firewood, he and Mugman are forced to fetch more. Except Cuphead gets them lost because of his recklessness.

Tropes

  • Arc Words: Cuphead's catchphrase of "I ain't too worried about it." pops up more regularly here than normal. The more he struggles in the wilderness with his carefree attitude, however, the more worried he actually starts becoming, and even Mugman throws this back at him.
  • Ironic Echo: Remember all those times Cuphead says "I ain't too worried about it" when something goes wrong? After he is reduced to begging Mugman for food and shelter, Mugman refuses even after Cuphead points out that he'll succumb to the elements otherwise. Mugman's response?
Mugman: I ain't too worried about it.
  • Jerkass Ball: Cuphead grips onto it hard this episode, being troublesome and ungrateful the entire time without learning a single lesson.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite the trouble he was in all episode, Cuphead doesn't learn a darn thing about hard work, since Elder Kettle managed to gather his own firewood while he and Mugman were away. By the end, he goes right back to playing with his fireworks.
  • The Millstone: Cuphead's recklessness made him useless in the wild, especially after he destroyed his and Mugman's compass.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Cuphead's impulsive habit of tying things to fireworks is what gets him and Mugman lost in the woods, destroying not only the firewood they were supposed to collect, but also their axes and their only compass, the only way they could find their way back.
  • Not So Remote: Turns out the cups were never that far away from the cottage.
  • Running Gag: Cuphead setting off fireworks.
  • Time-Passage Beard: Cuphead grows a beard in the time he's lost. When Elder Kettle finds them and tells Cuphead to get rid of the beard, Cuphead easily takes off as if it was a fake.
  • Title Drop: Mugman when Cuphead destroys their only compass, making them truly lost in said woods.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Cuphead quickly locks Mugman out of the shelter and eats his pie after being saved from being frozen by him. Even by the end, he still hasn't learned his lesson and leaves Mugman to be blown up to fireworks he tied him to.
  • What Were You Thinking?: Mugman asks Cuphead why he would launch and destroy their only compass while lost in the woods. Cuphead answers that he didn't think it through.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Despite initially refusing Cuphead shelter, Mugman reluctantly decides to save him and give him some hot chocolate upon seeing the poor cup frozen. Unfortunately, this bites him in the ass when Cuphead locks him outside and eats his pie in return.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The episode has more than one or two nods to the story The Ant and the Grasshopper, with Mugman being the stern and hard-working Ant and Cuphead being the carefree and layabout Grasshopper.
