Recap / The Croods: Family Tree S4E7 "Goodbye Crood World"

Go To

On a night full of stargazing, Phil sees a meteor and believes that it will crash into Earth and kill them all.

Tropes for this episode include:

  • Accidental Hero: Grug accidentally launches the rocket without anyone on it, only for it to explode, accidentally saving everyone's lives.
  • Anachronism Stew: Phil draws up plans for a rocket ship with the intent on traveling to the moon for safety, concepts that wouldn't be considered at all, much less be perfectly plausible, for another several thousand years in human history.
  • Colony Drop: Phil comes to the conclusion that the meteor he discovered will crashland on the surface of the Earth and kill them all.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: While Phil deserves brownie points for thinking that space-travel is possible, he thinks that the Moon is just like Earth... except gray.
  • No Name Given: Subverted. Nameless Chasm is not nameless, because it's called "Nameless Chasm", blowing Guy's mind when he realizes this.
  • Noah's Story Arc: Thunk gets the idea of bringing one of every animal on the planet and taking them up to the moon along with them so that life can endure, their descendants becoming Ultraterrestrial-Lunarians.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: Eep and Dawn find excuses not to do everything on their "Basket List" because the things they want to do are so hilariously dangerous (even by their Thrill Seeker standards).
  • Running Gag:
    • People giving an excited clap when they want to deflect.
    • Eep and Dawn procrastinating on their Basket List, only for Guy to wind up doing them due to sheer bad luck.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Turns out the world-ending meteor wasn't a world-ending meteor. The meteor was reduced to a more harmless size after burning up on reentry.
  • Wham Episode: The episode ends with the reveal that the "meteor" was a person frozen in a block of ice.
