- A Taste of the Lash: Leonid Zhabin whips himself as a form of penitence for his involvement in the first Anneca pipeline that poisoned and killed hundreds.
- CIA Evil, FBI Good: The CIA illegally planted an operative as a clergyman. They also attack Denisov's compound while the FBI were in the middle of negotiations undoing any good the FBI had done. The CIA is more harmful then helpful this episode.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Dean Walker and the other executives of Anneca Oil who wouldn't acknowledge the leaking pipeline poisoning the drinking water. This goes doubly for the executives in the late 80's who rushed the construction of their pipeline, killing hundreds.
- Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: The SRU is considered to be terrorists by Tashkent for attacking multinational companies and kidnapping VIPs. However, they're doing this so that they can provide help for their fellow Uzbeks.
