Tropes:
- Bittersweet Ending: Even with a number of hiccups, the Bear's soft opening night is ultimately a success. Unfortunately, things are in a dire state for the team. Marcus has missed urgent messages on his phone regarding his ailing mother. Syd pukes from the stress at the end of it all. Carmy's neglect of his duties comes back to bite him in the ass hard, and he accidentally sabotages his relationship with Claire.
- Call-Back: On a more positive note, Richie leaves Jimmy with a chocolate-covered banana to end the night, a call-back to "Fishes" in which he mentions its personal significance. Jimmy is visibly touched by the gesture.
- Chekhov's Gun: After failing time and time again to get the walk-in fridge's handle replaced, it breaks while he's inside, leaving Carmy trapped for the rest of the night.
- Separated by the Wall: Carmy and Richie have an argument while the former is trapped in the walk-in fridge. The fight is framed perpendicular to the fridge door with them on either side.
- Stress Vomit: Syd throws up from the stress of the soft opening.
