During Puss' birthday party, things about Li'l Pequeña begin to seem a little suspicious.

Tropes:

  • Backstory Invader: Orphan Li'l Pequeña, a new orphan who has been seen throughout most of the season turns out to be a fairy spy from the Netherworld who has been using her powers to manipulate everyone's memories so they believe she's always been there.
  • Birthday Episode: Dulcinea throws Puss in Boots a surprise Maybe-Birthday party. Since Puss is an orphan with no idea when he was actually born, she's picked a random day to celebrate.
  • Call-Back: When Li'l Pequeña alters someone's memory, this is depicted with her being inserted into clips from past episodes.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Toby's book of pictures. It comes up early on when Dulcinea discovers that Li'l Pequeña is not in any of them, the first clue to her true nature. Later on, when Li'l Pequeña makes the others think Dulcinea is evil, it's the book - specifically, a picture in it of Puss and Dulcinea - that makes Puss regain his memory.
  • Fake Memories: Li'l Pequeña alters memories of others to insert herself so she can serve as a spy. When Dulcinea proves too clever too fool, she resorts to altering everyone's memories so that they think Dulcinea is evil.
  • Foreshadowing: If one looks closely, you can see Li'l Pequeña is wearing one of the Blind King's mind control bracelets, foreshadowing both her nature as a Netherworld spy and also her ultimate true nature.
  • Glamor Failure: One of the first signs something is wrong with Li'l Pequeña is that for some reason, none of Toby's drawings of his friends he's ever made include her. When Dulcinea really thinks about it, her memories of Li'l Pequeña all involve her being 4 years old, even ones from years ago.
  • Lie to the Beholder: Li'l Pequeña is actually a fairy that makes herself look like a human child. Artephius has a lens that shows one's true form, which is used to expose her.
  • The Power of Love: Makes Puss remember who Dulcinea really is.
  • Wham Episode: Li'l Pequeña, an orphan who suddenly appeared this season is a spy for the Netherworld. She escapes through the portal to give information to the Blind King so he can destroy San Lorenzo. With no other option to them, Puss, Dulcinea, Toby, Babieca and Artephius jump into the portal after her, even though there's no telling what will happen to them.
