Volume 8 Bonus Chapter: My First Execution
As a young girl, Yamame was playing with her father in the garden one day when she accidentally stepped on a bug, squishing it. Overcome with grief, she buried the bug and held a funeral for it, but she had nightmare's about the bug's family losing one of its members. Even after a week had passed, Yamame refused to go outside due to the trauma of the incident.
Frustrated at her daughter's feelings of guilt, her father hypnotized her into thinking that the bug had returned from heaven to forgive her. When Yamame expressed fear of another bug suffering the same fate, her father offered to teach her to walk on stilts.
In the present day, Yamame is trying to teach Kusuri to walk on stilts, while saying she was taught by "a giant bug that's the size of Nausicaä's Worldbuilding".
