Teppelin is revealed to be a humongous Gunmen. Sitting on a throne at the top is a man. Nia, having arrived at the Dai-Gurren bridge, recognizes him as her father: Lordgenome the Spiral King. Nia asks Simon to take her with him in Gurren Lagann. While Team Dai Gurren and their allies battle the Spiral King's forces, the namesake fortress enables Gurren Lagann to enter the throne room where Gurren Lagann faces Viral in the now four armed Enkidudu. Viral claims that he has a new body that will never die. Enkidudu proves to be no match for Gurren Lagann. Lordgenome then reveals that the immortal body he gave Viral isn't for fighting humans since humans with Spiral power are too powerful for beastmen. The body he was given is so he can be a storyteller to pass down the tale of the Spiral King's victory. Nia emerges from Gurren Lagann to ask her father why he has pushed humanity underground, killing those who come up above. Lordgenome counters that HE is the guardian of mankind. It's then that Lordgenome raises his own personal mecha: Lazengann, with a similar energy signature to Gurren Lagann. The battle between the two mecha ensues with Simon launching Lagann attempting to take over Lazengann but to no avail. Lordgenome emerges from Lazengann's cockpit to beat up Lagann, causing Nia to be thrown out and she can only watch as the Spiral King pummels Simon. Ultimately, as Lordgenome grabs Simon, Simon grabs his drill key (a.k.a. the core drill) to slam it into Lordgenome's chest.
- Simon: My name is Simon, leader of Team Dai Gurren, Simon the Digger. If you decide that you're gonna be a wall that's standing in my way, I have something that will put a hole in you every time . . . and that something . . . is MY DRILL!
With that, the Spiral King's chest explodes. When the dust clears, Lordgenome is left with a large hole in his upper torso. He then utters a warning:
- Lordgenome: When the land overflows with a million apes note , the moon shall become Hell's messenger and completely destroy the world of the Spiral.
Then Lordgenome falls.
After Nia says that she will head towards tomorrow, Teppelin begins to crumble as Gurren Lagann returns to Team Dai Gurren in triumph.
"Battle of Teppelin. The 7th day. Teppelin, the Royal Capital: Fallen."
Tropes in this episode:
- Cue the Sun: The sun rises at the end of the episode and the battle, showing that humanity has finally won over the Spiral King and the Beastmen at last.
- Curbstomp Battle: Even with a new upgrade to Enkidu, Gurren Lagann just casually one hand blocks all of Viral's attacks before pushing him aside for the real battle with Lordgenome.
- David vs. Goliath: Simon (even in Lagann) is the David to Lordgenome's Goliath.
- Fingerpoke Of Doom: Teppelin is such a massive Gunmen that just its finger alone is enough to block Gurren Lagann's drill and flick it away.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Just when it looks like Simon is about to be rendered to paste by Lordgenome, Simon stabs him with his core drill.
- Open Air Driver: The Lagann's canopy gets broken off by Genome's furious attacks, leaving Simon exposed as he continues fighting him. Impressively, he did that with his bare hands.
