Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) S07E16 "The Legend of Koji"

Go To

Shredder uses a Time Machine to travel back to 16th-Century Japan to defeat Hamato Koji, founder of the Foot Clan, and the Turtles have to ensure that the timeline remains intact.

Tropes

  • Clarke's Third Law: Invoked. Since Koji doesn't understand genetics (given this is 16th-century Japan), Splinter explains that he and the Turtles are the product of magic.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Hamato Koji looks just like a pre-mutated Splinter.
  • Tengu: Shredder's men mistake the Turtles and Splinter. Being superstitious, they run for it because attacking a Tengu invites misfortune and ruin.
  • Time Travel for Fun and Profit: Shredder's big plan is to go back in time and stop Hamato Koji from founding the Foot Clan. Without him, Shredder will replace him with his own ancestor Oroku Sancho, retroactively making Shredder the true leader of the Foot Clan and erasing Splinter and the Turtles from the timeline.
