The Titans try to master the four traditions of New Year's (the Toast, the Countdown, the Kiss, and the Song), blaming their bad luck on having failed to do so in the past.
- After the End: By the time the Titans ring in the new year properly, it's shown the world is a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
- Call-Back: When Robin demonstrates how to properly sing "Auld Lang Syne" to the other Titans, a sepia-toned montage of scenes from past episodes plays in the background.
- Failure Montage: After each failed new years party, the calendar shows how horrible the Titans' year went.
- New Year Has Come: The Titans try, and fail, for years to celebrate New Year's Eve in the most perfect way, with each year making their lives worse. By the time they get it right in their old age after beating Father Time and the New Year Baby, it turns out the world is already doomed.
- Something Something Leonard Bernstein: Part of a good new years, according to Robin, is being able to properly sing “Auld Lang Syne.” Raven, though, keeps singing “Oh Danny Boy.”
